@LuciaAbundo6 months ago ❤I was surprised when I heard the issue on Synod on Synodality about the blessing on same sex union and the female priesthood.sorry If I'm wrong. This means that the Church exploring for church development? The church embrace everyone? Or it makes the church devided? I hope that the product of synod on synodality (walking or journey together) is the will of the Holy Spirit, for His Church. ...

@AdithiaKusno6 months ago As a subdeacon in a sui juris Byzantine Catholic Church I don't see any reason why would Pope Francis or the College of Bishops would be willing to risk schism. Look at Anglican communion after they approve gay marriage, now the communion only compromise 20% membership. That's -80% collapse. Instead it's more likely that Pope Francis and the College of Bishops may resurrect the ancient rite of adelphopoiesis. Where the Church can publicly offer incense and liturgy for individual person struggling with same sex attraction to pursue holiness. We see how such holy life is possible with St John Henry Newman and Fr Ambrose St John. They lived together in chastity. And they are buried together. What greater love than one who gives life to another. This blessing will upset both radical traditionalist and radical progressive. Because the Church not condemning gay people and not approving gay marriage. This is the middle way. And in regards of women role it's possible that the Pope and the College of Bishops will resurrect a lay extraordinary minister of preaching. St Phoebe, St Tecla, St Priscilla, and St Mary of Magdala were all preachers. This will bypass the issue of woman ordination because then women would have access to lead wedding, lead funeral, do hospital visitation with Eucharist and blessed oils, do baptism, and even administer penance. During the time of St Cyprian he grant abbott and deacon to hear confession, administer penance, and grant certificate of indulgence with the bishop's seal to absolve sin delegated by bishop's authority. During the Black Death popes even extend penance to abbesses. Once this is extended to lay extraordinary ministers then the debate on woman ordination is evaded entirely. As a clergy I don't have private opinion. But reading from the writings on the wall I don't see any changes in dogma. It will be the same dogma expressed in new theological expressions. Similar to theological development on slavery. Same revelation but our understanding of that revelation is deeper and clearer because we stood upon giants who faithfully articulate the faith once delivered. ...

@a_reasonable_faith5 months ago In my opinion EWTN has done a poor job of accurately presenting what the synod actually is AND the fact that church teachings are NOT going to change no matter what synod participants say or desire. The Church will never ordain women priests or bless same-sex unions. None of the faithful have to worry about that. The only thing about the synod that should be concerning is the fact that these things are even being discussed. That being said, it's not going to change anything, it's just sad. It is good for the Pope to get a glimpse of the attitudes and misunderstandings held by Bishops and laity, and it provides an opportunity for direction and correction. It's great that he is listening, but nobody needs to worry about his response. You can know with absolute certainty that he will never err in his teachings regarding matters of faith and morals and the Church will remain undefiled in her teachings until the end of time. If you hear anything to the contrary, you can rest assured that its either a straight up lie or a misunderstanding. ...

@sophiachavez33776 months ago Since when is Spanish the language of the majority of Catholics? The official language of 60 countries is English while Spanish is the official language of only 20, 18 of them in Latin America. Approximately 1.5 billion people speak English while only about 595 million people speak Spanish. There is no evidence to support your statement. ...
