Pokémon SwSh - Motostoke (Arr. for Woodwind Quintet)

An arrangement for a woodwind quartet of the music that plays while in the city of Motostoke in the games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Instrumentation: - 1 Flute - 1 Bb Clarinet - 1 Horn in F - 1 Bass Clarinet - 1 Bassoon Merry Christmas! Or Hanukkah, or whatever it is you'd celebrate around this time of year :D I always thought woodwind ensembles sounded a little Christmassy, especially with textures like in the first 6 bars. But this arrangement wasn't meant for a Christmas special at first. The original Motostoke theme is quite an energy-filled piece, accompanying the massive steam engines and industry in the city — to the point where bells and engine-churning make their way into the arrangement. It's also a bit jazzy, using a bunch of cool chord extensions. While the former didn't sit well with a woodwind arrangement, the latter translated super well. Talking more about the composition of SwSh, the game uses (leit)motifs way more generously. A good example is in the second half of Motostoke's theme. This motif is present in most towns' themes, including Postwick, Wedgehurst, and Wyndon. So this can be referred to the "Town Theme". The broad, layered style of the motif gives an idea of space; a (quasi-)vast city, waiting to be explored. And in small hamlets, this could be a call to adventure, with the melody and counter-melodies cheering you on, for there's a long journey ahead of you. In this arrangement, the most noticeable change i did was the key, which was originally i think in B major. On top of that I did some variations, and also added some new melodic material. Overall, i also did a mood inversion for most of the arrangement; either that or I lowered the energy a bit. Hopefully, i made the piece a lot more woodwind-friendly.
