In April 1941, Germany invaded the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The defending Air Force was equipped with some modern fighters such as Hawker Hurricane and Messerschmitt Bf-109 but the attack was still overwhelming. Especially for some Yugoslav fighter units still equipped with outdated fighters such as Hawker Fury. A squadron equipped with fifteen of these biplanes mostly managed to takeoff when Luftwaffe Bf-109s and Bf-110s attacked their airfield. Almost all of them were shot down but they still fought back using a desperate method - ramming attacks.
