@777snowboarder77714 years ago Great video...I used some of the things I saw here to fix my FP GWL15. The fault code noted a problem with the pump and upon trying to actuate it I could see that the fan wheel would not move. Once you loosen the bracket between the base and the pump assembly you can twist out the pump. My problem was that a small chain from my wife's shirt was jammed in the impeller housing. Put everything back together and it is working great now....thanks again. These are excellent machines! ...

@hmgriffin12 years ago I have the exact same problem. I found nothing inside the diverter valve, but I did find the little plastic piece connected to the motor (wax motor, not solenoid) was broken. I just ordered one for $40. This is great!.. Thank you for posting! ...

@kimgreenway16 years ago really helpful.. im a girl with no idea about this stuff... was googling it to no avail... finally thought.. hang on ! youtube ! hurray! hopefully herein lies the answers to my problem !!! thanks lots

@saw4fire13 years ago I love Fisher Paykel washing machines! I live in the Colorado foothills, and that means I drop in jeans covered in bark, bar oil and chainsaw clippings. Normally, that stuff just goes right on through. Friday, the washer stopped with continuous beeping. I used the dx code to figure out the pump was blocked. I emptied the machine, and when I pulled the pump (trivially easy, release a nylon catch, and it rotates out). A staple had jammed the pump. Staple removed, washer works perfectly. ...

@jingles62813 years ago Thank you so much for this video. You saved the day!!!! My washer and refridgerator both acting up, water all over the kitchen floor from fridge and water all over the basement floor from washer!!!!!! You solved my problem with the washer, bobbypin stuck in diverter valve. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooooooo much!!!!! Fixed it all myself tooo!!! Not to shabby for a girl!! Husband feels defeated though!!! hahahaha ...

@RevMarket16 years ago You could have dismantled the diverter valve and cleaned it out by pressing the tabs on the side and opening it up. You do have to pull up the electrical actuator off of the tab actuator. This is so you can make the valve go to the middle to slide it out. Excellent video. Thanks. ...

@far-red12 years ago how i wish you had some one there to hold the camera for you.. or you had a tripod... but so far, what your doing is pretty educational for me,, many thanks
  • @
@Nektar21213 years ago I think you just saved me over 100$. I hope you know what that means to a struggling little family. Thank you so much.
  • @
@sghunting14 years ago Excellent video, was wondering if you knew much about replacement of the pump for the same model F&P washing machine. I bought a replacement part (b/c the last one was making a loud noise) and after replacing it, found it to start leaking. Do you know if there is something we need to re-seal or that i'm forgetting with the install. ...

@LuisMenchu16 years ago hopefully we'll hear back that all is now well with your machine.

@cbywaterable12 years ago Been wrestling with my washing machine and cursing it for 6 months - after watching your video - found a plastic sock hanger in the diverter and fixed everything in 20 mins. Eternally grateful for your help
  • @
@timmorrison779811 years ago Thank you. I Haven't tried to fix my problem yet, there are no instructions hidden behind the control panel, but after watching your video I'm sure I'll be able to fix my machine without paying mega-bucks to a technician. ...

@denlea512 years ago You are my hero! My GWL11 was alternating recirculating, and draining, from the rinse on. I also washed a comforter a year ago and had the same shearing of plastic, but no problem till now. Your showing in great detail how easy it was to disassemble the part gave me courage. I only found a thin strip of plastic in the bottom hose, put it together, and it ran fine! You've not only saved me money I didn't have, but saved the best washer I ever had, and gave me pride! Thank you! ...

@LuisMenchu14 years ago @oceanz4me In this case the diverter valve directs water from the tub either to the drain or recirculates it back into the tub. When my diverter valve was clogged, the valve couldn't divert the water to the drain so the water was simply pumped back into the tub. ... 1

@saw4fire13 years ago @vibrantjourney: I bought the first one at least 12 years ago. I used it so much that the sheet of plastic over the buttons was wearing out. I'm on a well, and I have a simple filter upstream of the machine to get any sand that gets pulled up the well (typical in the spring as the snow melts). Over all those years of abuse, I think I replaced two valves. The parts were reasonable ($50-$100) and barely required any tools. I finally replaced it with a new FP. Designed to be easily fixed! ...

@KatScratchGraphics6 years ago I'm so grateful for this! I found the other half of a safety pin and everything else it snagged along the way! My warrantee is out and I'm a single mother, so this diy repair was HUGE for me...thanks again! 1

@boardmandan12 years ago Awesome video! Washer is back up and running after finding a small hair clip stuck in the valve. Thank you for posting this!

@LuisMenchu13 years ago @RARE4movie Glad it was helpful. What did the broken piece of plastic break off of?
  • @
@KatieCooksandCrafts9 years ago Thank you so much for this video, it save the day. I found a hair clip lodged in my diverter valve hose. Cleared the blockage and I have a working machine again! You saved the day!

@intellivoice13 years ago thanks so much! This was a relatively easy fix and it probably saved a few hundred bucks! We washed a small carpet that had rubber on the bottom and it flaked off and clogged the diverter...also found some pennies in there too! ...

@LuisMenchu12 years ago Nice. I'm always impressed with how fast some of you can do this. It always takes me a while.

@LuisMenchu12 years ago Thanks, glad the video helped you out. It does feel good to take care of it yourself. Make sure you reward yourself, you deserve it!

@Ytsejamer1last year I've still got my GWL11-US going and have been getting diverter valve errors after the first wash cycle/light. I've been putting off replacing it as I can just power it off and restart the wash cycle and off it goes just fine. I'm wondering if something got caught in there, but did buy a new one. This video was a great help to understand where exactly it is. Many thanks. ...

@Kris27311 years ago Thank you for kthe video. I too have had problems with our washer here in good ol NZ We have had one person come and fix ours once and cost us $150 or so..This time I thought bugger that! Pulled her apart cleaned her out and hey presto all fixed. Great video. The wife will be very happy. . ...

@ssarfati17 years ago Omg. Thank you. I was clueless about how to even begin, so I had a repair tech come out ($89) who said I needed a $573 repair job. No, thanks, not on a 7-year-old washer. Stumbled across your video, and it turns out there was a piece of metal keeping the diverter open. All fixed! ...

@39satcom12 years ago update: my machine is working fine since removing the penny. It will do warm and hot loads now too.. something that was not possible before. thanks a bunch!
  • @
@LuisMenchu16 years ago Great info. Dismantling would have made my clean up job a lot easier but without your instruction a little outside my comfort zone. I might have gone down that path if I couldn't get all the pieces out by other means and then convinced myself I'm buying a new one anyway, so no harm if I break it. Thanks for the comment. May have to add a video dismantling the diverter valve. (Or, if you do, let us know.) ...

@LuisMenchu13 years ago @intellivoice Saved money, earned a few pennies, good no matter how you look at it. Those little rugs with the rubber backing are always trouble. I remember ruining one in a washer.
  • @
@39satcom12 years ago Thanks much. Your video was the first one I came upon. I've had two F&P washers, your model and now the WA37T26G. The 26G is very similar except for the control panel layout. I am glad I saved the parts from the older machine, including the diverter valve. ...
  • @
@TankCatIntoMordor14 years ago Hey can you scan that little diagnostic manual and host it somewhere? Some of the machines dont come with it, and it's fairly generic
  • @
@rachelpitt401311 years ago Thank you! My machine was chewed up ages ago, by a doona. I will empty my machine out and see if the valve needs clearing
  • @
@RevMarket16 years ago When I get the new one I will try to post a video reply opening it up to see the insides.

@brickhouse5678 years ago Thank you so much! This helped me tremendously and saved me a lot of money by not having to make a service call. I found so much hair in the diverter valve and also a penny in the pump compartment.

@LuisMenchu11 years ago Jerry, Glad you got to it and fixed it. Not sure who the "why you don't like them" note was for. I like ours, they have been pretty sturdy overall and we've had them for a while now but I do wish everyone had the diagnostic booklet available to them. Thanks for the note. ...

@pddally111 years ago i would like to thank you too! i probably would have gotten around to it anyway, but your video was so informative that i said i can fix this today. took about i hour. mine was clogged with a PENNY and lint. got it out,all is well. Thanks again p.s. Fisher&Paykel leave us repair instructions and are easy to fix.I don't know why you don't like them. ...

@gcouch25469 years ago HUGE help, I had no detailed code showing but my washer wouldn't finish a spin cycle,  diverter valve was magnificently clogged. Fixed the problem beautifully!! Awesome.
  • @
@RevMarket16 years ago Please remember that my unit is a GWL10US. I found out after looking at another web page that the pump might be clogged. I was able to remove the pump after disconnecting one wire, one plug, moving white locking tab, and giving a quarter twist counter clockwise on the pump. Then cleared out fuzz and safety pin. Now I am running a cycle to see if this works. I will probably save the diverter valve that I bought from 1-888-936-7872, just in case it goes south again. It costs $28 US. ...

@LuisMenchu13 years ago @2russos I remember washing one of those bathroom rugs with a rubber back. Didn't turn out to well for me either. Not sure if it was just too old or if they can't be washed.

@matthewmiller704110 years ago Thanks so much for posting this!  This was the answer to my problem with my GWL15.  In my case, I had lint and plastic in there, but the valve was stuck due to a dime in the valve.  I had to actually take the diverter valve apart after removing it, which is extremely easy to do.  Just slightly pry open the four clips, and lift the valve and its solenoid off of the housing.  It makes getting all the crud out much easier with less likelihood of damaging the valve. ... 2

  • @
@39satcom12 years ago no, just the penny. i know that sounds odd. the only thing i can think of is that the diverter wasn't able to mix or evacuate the water correctly to achieve the correct temperature. now i wish i had gone through the alarms codes. ...

@mannyt.661711 years ago These three videos that you have posted were amazing and it saved me most likely a service call...who knows $100 or more....thank you very much for taking the time posting these.

@eddiealbert10 years ago Excellent Vid. Purchased my washer used from a friend and it was sloshing water out from the first load. I assumed that something had frozen inside since it had been in his garage over the winter. Watched your vid and in 20 minutes I removed just a small piece of plastic from the diverter valve. Just one little piece of those plastic things they use to hold tags to new clothes. Removed it, put it all back together and it works fine now. So it really does not take much to mess up that valve! ...

@LuisMenchu12 years ago @visualskyman Thanks. Yeah, next home project needs better quality.
  • @
@RevMarket16 years ago Or I might need it if this does not fix the issue. Remember the diverter valve is actuated from a plunger that is heat driven. It may take up to 3 minutes to recycle from open to close as it cools down. My first diverter valve, 2 years ago, failed because the plastic part that turns from the plunger snapped. I pray this helps someone else. ...

@LuisMenchu13 years ago @mishu091szn This diverter valve is kind of like a couch. You never know what you are going to find in the valve or under the cushions. Thanks for the comment.

@jeffkeith84107 years ago The error code shows the diverter valve is faulty and also going thru the check list the water does not circulate in the wash tub when it should . Every time the pump comes on it will drain the water . It will then have to add more water . I replaced the diverter valve but still have the same problem. What should my next step be? Contol board?? ...
