@katherinedicks64378 months agoI had a 10th gen iPad . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises. ...53

@JeremyTani4 years agoOne thing to watch out for with Procreate (or any drawing/painting app for that matter) is True Tone, especially if you intend to print your image or export it to view on another device. TT shifts the screen tint to make it look "natural", but the graphics app does not, so what might look like the right color on screen will not be the same color the app is registering. For example, if True Tone happens to be tinting your screen with a slight blue, your drawing painting result will tend to look warmer (orange-ish) when viewing it on another device. Likewise, if TT is tinting your screen orange, the actual result will tend to look colder (blue-ish). Basically, because your screen is tinted and you as artist are basing your color choices off of what you see, the tint of the screen is offsetting what you are actually painting in the app. This is akin to doing a physical painting while being lit with colored lights or tinted glasses. For a more consistent experience with any color-oriented app I would recommend disabling True Tone. ...482

@callmekite4 years agoKnocked it out of the park as always! It’s interesting to see how so many of the latest generations of ipads have more in common and serve artists basically the same way once you strip away all the bells and whistles. Thanks Teoh! ...15

@alrighty-o46063 years agoI got an Apple Pencil series 2 over the holidays. Was super excited to use it. . .but then I realized that it didn't work with my older iPad Pro. I almost exchanged it for an Apple Pencil series1 before realizing that my older iPad would most likely stop working in a year or so. I spent a ton of time deciding whether to get a new iPad or to just exchange the pencil. This really helped me out, thank you so much. ...2

@
@pitik4 years agoVery good review. I just bought an iPad air 2020. I’m a wacom Cintiq user and I really can not draw well because the screen is very slippery. I bought a paper feel screen protector and the change for drawing and sketching was amazing. As you say you lose a little screen quality (but get used to it very fast) but the feeling using the pen is much better. It also reduces reflections and fingerprints. I really recommend to use it. I bought a normal one. I didn’t buy any specific brand. ...12

@KoalaTulip474 years agoCool video! I do like that you take your time to work with these devices and give a thorough review instead of just rushing a unboxing video out to catch on the trends. I don't regret my iPad Pro purchase, but from this video I too would recommend an iPad Air 4 to anyone who wants the iPad Pro feel within a more modest budget. ...7

@
@SuperINgamer4 years agoI love your reviews so much! What I love about your reviews the most is that you seem really down to earth and frankly, just honest! I watched a lot of your videos even though I'm not an artist at all, but I'd love to be someday. I need (or probably just want) an iPad for University, and really wanted to finally get into digital art with it as well, so your reviews have all been a godsend. I admit, I am pretty sure a regular iPad 8.gen or maybe even 7.gen would be good enough for my usecase, which is taking lots and lots of notes and starting to draw. But my eye is constantly looking over to the air 4 and being jealous of it's more modern design, better processor and more ram. The most inexpensive option would actually be a used tab s6 lite, but while most apps are ok-good, none seem to be as feature complete as the apps on iPad. I also own a macbook, so compatibility between iPad and Mac would be nice to have as well. I am really conflicted at the moment and don't really know which to get. ...14

@leahevergreenart4 years agothis was sooo helpful, I am currently still using the original ipad pro and have been thinking of upgrading to a smaller lighter model for some time. When I saw the ipad air 4, I was like wow that could be it. Only now, knowing that my files will be that much smaller for layers when working in procreate, not so much. Like I said, so helpful, thank you for talking about what this version is capable of doing when creating the documents for drawing ...3
@
@lui02lu4 years agoThank you so much for this! You made a really informative video that answers all of the questions for artists! Best one yet! And I'm also glad you actually made firm recommendations in the end. Other YouTubers don't really recommend one or the other, they just ask you "What do YOU think is the best for you? Comment below". I mean, that's why potential buyers are reading reviews because they want to know what the reviewer's opinion is, right? I've never owned an iPad before, but I've been a user of Wacom tablets. I'll probably use the iPad for sketching and drawing, so I will most likely get a refurbished/used iPad Pro 2018 because of the bigger layer capacity. Again, thanks for this! Really helped me! ...9
